Warriors notebook: Draymond Green sighting in Phoenix; a secret practice in San Francisco

PHOENIX — Draymond Green has two games left to serve in his five-game suspension, but the Warriors veteran is finding ways around the restrictions to stay involved.Green voluntarily participated in an optional shoot around and light scrimmage with the Warriors’ bench guys away from Footprint Arena before Wednesday’s game against the Phoenix Suns. Gary Payton II also participated in the shoot around and looked spry, but will sit out for a third straight game with a left foot strain.League rules say Green can’t be at the arena before, during or after any game he’s suspended for, but he’s spent time around the team on non-game days scrimmaging with the younger players, lending his voice while he can’t lend a hand. He had plenty to say about Golden State’s inconsistencies on defense in his absence, rookie Brandin Podziemski said.“Just having his presence and voice means a lot for me, for Trayce (Jackson-Davis), for the young guys,...Winter arrives in Yosemite: Tioga Road closes, ice rink opens

Yosemite National Park’s famed Tioga Road — a 46-mile route through the park’s scenic high country — has closed for the winter. One of the marquee drives in America’s national park system, the winding, two-lane route bisects Yosemite’s alpine center, passing through meadows and forests of lodgepole pine and juniper. It runs from Crane Flat to Tioga Pass, where it crests at 9,945 feet along the highest highway pass in California.“We’ve had a few storm systems over the last couple of weeks, and even though they didn’t produce a lot of snow, there is some snow and ice at the higher elevations along the Tioga Road,” said Scott Gediman, a Yosemite spokesman. “With the cold temperatures at night it isn’t melting. For safety reasons, we decided to close it for the season.”Park officials temporarily closed the road Nov. 15, and made the closure permanent for the winter season on Tuesday afternoon. Typically the road closes due to snow and ice in November a...Bay Area arts: 8 cool live shows to see this weekend

A cease-fire agreement between the Hamas militant group and Israel has been confirmed by both parties, along with Washington and Qatar, which helped broker the deal that would bring a temporary halt to the devastating war that is now in its seventh week. The Israeli government said that under an outline of the deal, Hamas is to free over a four-day period at least 50 of the roughly 240 hostages taken in its Oct. 7 attack on Israel, and Israel is to release some Palestinian prisoners in exchange. Egyptian state media say the truce will begin Thursday morning. Egypt helped mediate the cease-fire agreement, which would bring the first respite to war-weary Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 11,000 people have been killed, according to health authorities. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said late Wednesday he told U.S. President Joe Biden that he will press ahead with the war after a cease-fire expires.
