Keeler vs. Singer: Will Bruce Brown give Denver Nuggets the hometown discount?

Sean Keeler: For Bruce Brown, love (the Nuggets’ budding dynasty, Nugg Life, getting blackout drunk with Nikola Jokic) and money (bag, moolah, scratch) don’t necessarily have to be a binary deal. Remember the saga of Bobby Portis two years ago? Found his niche after signing an I’ll-show-you free agent deal in Milwaukee, became a legend off the bench and a civic hero in helping a flyover town snatch an NBA title. Sound familiar? Brown’s followed almost the same script to the letter in ’22-23, only we’ve come to the first big (contract) fork in the road. Portis wound up declining his player option in the summer of ’21 — as Brown could do this week — but then turned around and inked a below-market two-year deal with a 1-year opt-out in Milwaukee so the Bucks would have his Early Bird Rights. Here’s the cool part: Doing so then paved a long and winding path for Bobby Buckets to land a long-term deal (four years, $48 million) in Wisconsin. Could a similar path play out for Brown an...Keenan Anderson’s family files $100M lawsuit against city, LAPD officers over stun gun death

They said Anderson was trying to get help after a crash, but was chased and held down by multiple officer...These are the most expensive metro areas for California renters

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Montana officials sought to downplay a first-of-its-kind trial over a state’s obligations to protect residents from climate change, saying on Monday that a victory by the young plaintiffs would not change approvals for fossil fuel projects.Attorneys for Montana’s Republican attorney general began laying out their defense following a week of often emotional testimony in state court from more than a dozen young people who sued the state in 2020.The 16 plaintiffs, ranging in age from 5 to 22 years old, say they’re being harmed by wildfire smoke, excessive heat and other effects of climate change. They’re asking a judge to declare unconstitutional a state law that prevents agencies from considering the effect of greenhouse gases when they issue permits for fossil fuel development.Experts say greenhouse gas emissions from coal, oil and natural gas are making the Earth hotter. Plaintiffs’ attorneys say Montana has never denied a permit for a fo...Venus Williams, aged 43 and ranked No 697, pulls off surprising win at Birmingham Classic
