Five months after its season ended under a dark cloud, College Park has a new football coach. Mount Diablo Unified School District superintendent Adam Clark told the Bay Area News Group in an email this week that former coach Travis Raciti resigned “in good standing” after the season “to pursue other opportunities.”The Pleasant Hill school hired Casey Moreno as its next coach. Moreno previously held head coaching positions at Hayward and Dublin.“Our goal is to produce championship caliber young men who understand that winning has more to do with taking care of what’s important now, more than it has to do with who scored the most at the end of the game,” Moreno wrote on the College Park website.Moreno takes over a program that won a league championship last season but was accused of running up the score in an 84-0 regular-season victory over Ygnacio Valley and poor sportsmanship in a playoff loss at Windsor.Raciti and athletic director Jim Keck were suspended ...A new group of Twitter vendors is suing the company for alleged unpaid bills

By Clare Duffy | CNN BusinessA group of Twitter vendors on Tuesday filed a proposed class action lawsuit alleging that the company has failed to pay tens of thousands of dollars in overdue bills. The four firms — captioning services company White Coat Captioning, consulting group YES Consulting and public relations firms Cancomm and Dialogue México — allege that Twitter is in breach of their contracts and has yet to pay bills ranging from around $40,000 to $140,000 for services they provided the company last year.Tuesday’s lawsuit, which was filed in California Northern District Court and first reported by CNN, refers to the companies suing Twitter as “small businesses without the resources, time, and money to litigate these claims on their own.”The lawsuit comes as new Twitter owner Elon Musk attempts to slash costs after buying the company for $44 billion, a significant amount of which came from debt financing. It also adds to the growing list of legal actions Twi...Trump’s surrender creates spectacle in Manhattan

By Bobby Caina Calvan and Deepti Hajela | Associated PressNEW YORK — A small park built on a site that was once a swampy, sewage-filled pond was ground zero for the frenzy surrounding former President Donald Trump’s expected surrender Tuesday at a courthouse in Lower Manhattan.Hundreds of onlookers, protesters, journalists and a few politicians swarmed into the confines of Collect Pond Park, which sits across the street from the criminal courthouse where Trump was to be arraigned. The crowd was small, by the standards of New York City protests, which routinely draw thousands. And fears that unruly mobs might force police to shut down swaths of the city proved to be unfounded, with security measures mostly disappearing within a couple of blocks. But within the park and the surrounding sidewalks, there was plenty of chaos.Metal barricades separated Trump supporters from anti-Trump protesters, and police stepped in to break up small skirmishes. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Damage to glass facades on several San Francisco high rise buildings brought on by recent Bay Area storms has prompted city officials to launch new safety requirements for newer tall buildings, according to a news release from the city. San Francisco Mayor London Breed issued an emergency declaration in March allowing the city's Department of Building Inspection (DBI) to expand its facade inspection program to buildings that are 15 stories or taller and are less than 30 years old. SF drag legend Heklina found dead in London The existing program does not require buildings to send in inspection reports unless they are five stories or more and are more than 30 years old. But, of the six buildings that experienced glass failure during the storms, three are less than 30 years old.“While we are endeavoring to understand what caused the recent window failures in half a dozen buildings downtown, this legislation will ensure all tall buildings are immediately inspec...The Prosecution of Trump Is a Good First Step. This prosecution, reportedly based on more than two dozen felony indictments related to hush money payments Trump has admitted he authorized to an adult film actress in 2016, comes just days after the 20th anniversary of the start of the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq. Trump may be the first former president to face criminal prosecution, but that fact in and of itself is a damning condemnation of the U.S. system of impunity that has long permeated our system of American exceptionalism. This case against Trump would be a mere footnote of history, albeit a wild one, if the U.S. actually believed in holding presidents and other top officials accountable for their crimes, including thos...Fulham’s Mitrovic banned 8 games after grabbing referee

LONDON (AP) — Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was handed an eight-game ban Tuesday by the English Football Association after getting sent off for grabbing the referee in the FA Cup quarterfinals against Manchester United last month. The Serbia international was shown a straight red card after pushing and remonstrating aggressively in the face of referee Chris Kavanagh, who had just given United a penalty and sent off Fulham winger Willian for a handball in the area. Fulham had led 1-0 before the penalty was awarded, but went on to lose 3-1 after going down to nine men in the match on March 19.The FA said Mitrovic’s suspension, which was decided by an independent regulatory commission, consists of a standard three-match ban which has been extended by three games for violent conduct toward a match official and another two for using language that was “improper, abusive, insulting and threatening.”Mitrovic was also given a fine of 75,000 pounds ($94,000). MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s president asked his Chinese counterpart for help Tuesday in halting chemicals from China used by Mexican drug dealers to illegally produce fentanyl, while also complaining of “rude” U.S. pressure to curb the drug trade.President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has previously said that fentanyl is America’s problem and is caused by “a lack of hugs” in U.S. families. On Tuesday he doubled down on those themes, but went further, venting in a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping about “rude threats” from U.S. legislators over the drug trade.López Obrador complained about calls in the United States to designate Mexican drug gangs as terrorist organizations. Some Republicans have said they favor using the U.S. military to crack down on the Mexican cartels.“Unjustly, they are blaming us for problems that in large measure have to do with their loss of values, their welfare crisis,” López Obrador wrote to Xi in the letter published Tuesday. “These positions are in t...Rahm looks to regain momentum at Masters after rough March

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Jon Rahm looked nearly unbeatable just a month ago. Now, the world’s No. 3-ranked player suddenly finds himself looking for a way to regain his top form this week at the Masters. After winning three tournaments in a six-week span culminating in a two-shot victory over Max Homa at Riviera, Rahm endured a rough March — making it anyone’s guess as to what to expect from the 28-year-old Spaniard at Augusta National.Rahm’s issues began at the Arnold Palmer Invitational when he followed up a stellar opening-round 7-under 65 with back-to-back 76s, eliminating him from contention at Bay Hill. He ultimately finished tied for 39th, snapping a streak of 10 straight top-10 finishes. He followed that with a first-round 71 at the Players Championship, but was forced to withdraw because of a stomach illness. Then came a disappointing effort at the WGC-Dell Match Play where he lost to Rickie Fowler and Billy Horschel, becoming the only top six seed not to advance to the round ...Latest news
