Q: Lane splitting is technically legal for motorcyclists in California, but the way it is done is often not legal. Problems include lane splitting above 30 mph, using no signal, making unsafe lane changes, following too close, and lane splitting more than 10 mph faster than cars they are passing. Many motorcyclists have no plates or no visible plates, no Class M driver’s license, no insurance, etc.I know what I am talking about. I’m retired from law enforcement and am a private investigator. I have dealt with these people. They are not people who do things by the rules and do not care about others. OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- The Oakland City Council unanimously adopted a resolution in support of California State Senate Assembly Bill 673, or the Ebony Alert Bill, which would establish a notification system, similar to an Amber Alert, to address the deficit in attention given to Black children and women that are missing in California.Oakland Councilmember Treva Reid brought the resolution. She says there are currently 1,500 people reported missing in Oakland."We make up 24 percent of Oakland's population. Yet, that disturbing number of 60 percent of missing persons. We should all be outraged," said Reid. "400 of those missing persons are Black women." PARIS (AP) — America’s top military officer says training for Ukrainian forces on advanced U.S. Abrams tanks has started, but those those weapons crucial over the long term in trying to expel Russia from occupied territory will not be ready in time for Kyiv’s imminent counteroffensive. The tank training got underway as the United States and its allies began to work out agreements to train Ukrainians on F-16 fighter jets, another long-sought advanced system. COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — In a blow to abortion opponents in Ohio, a fall ballot issue aimed at enshrining access to the procedure in state’s constitution will not be split into two separate issues — one about abortion, and one about all other reproductive care.In a ruling Thursday, the Ohio Supreme Court sided with the bipartisan Ohio Ballot Board over a pair of anti-abortion voters who had argued that abortion should be considered as its own question.Justices disagreed, leaving alone proposed ballot language advanced by Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights and Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom. The two groups face a July 5 deadline to collect the necessary signatures to make the November ballot. The ballot board, chaired by Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose, considered the question of whether to split the proposed question into two, and determined it regarded a single subject.SourceLatest news
